PBIS Student Spotlight

Upson- Lee Elementary kicked off its year with a PBIS Pep Rally! The theme this year is Lights, Camera, Learn! During the pep rally, students met the directors. Each director represents a genre. Mrs. Dunn- Animation, Ms. Busbee-Adventure, Mrs. Salter-Drama, Coach English- Fantasy, Mr. Witte- Comedy, and Coach Barber- Action. Mrs. Dunn, PBIS Coach, revealed to students and teachers the team each teacher would be competing with to earn an Academy Award (extra fun incentives). Each director presented their teammates a memento that correlated with their genre for their class during the pep rally. Students were reminded to be READY, RESPONSIBLE, and RESPECTFUL at school to reach fun and rewarding milestones during the school year! The PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) Team will be updating parents and students throughout the year of these fun incentives and sharing updated pictures as they meet each one! Keep checking in on our school Facebook page to see whose team will be the first blockbuster. Good Luck, students and get your READY, RESPONSIBLE and RESPECTFUL acting on!

Good evening parents,
Tomorrow Monday, August 5th will be a normal drop off or bus ride for all students. You will not be allowed to walk your children to their classes. We will take great care of them as we are ready to begin our normal routines.
Thank you.

Back to School 🍎

Important Information for 1st Day-
Parents, you may walk your child in tomorrow and Friday. You may park in the primary parking lot and walk across the street. We are going to open the 3rd grade doors, so you can enter the building. You may also park in the parking lot closest to Tom McKinley, and enter through the front doors.
Students must be in the building by 7:50.
-Please make sure you have completed your transportation sheet (if you attended the open house). If you did not attend the open house, please send a note with your student stating how they are going to get home. Please list the address, and we will look up the bus number, or list that they are a car rider.
-Car Rider Dismissal
Please make sure you have your 24-25 car tag displayed on your mirror. You should have received it if you came to the open house.
Our car rider line begins in our parking lot and it goes to the high school. If you need to enter our line, please go down Knight Trail (towards the high school) and loop around. Our line is on the far right. If you exit from the primary parking lot, please take a right and loop around at the high school to join our line.
Looking forward to a great first day 💜

ULES PTO has done so much for our school this year and we're just getting started. Today's lunch from Country Cupboard and dessert from The Vintage Scoop was paid for by our PTO. They have also provided agendas and car pick up tags for all students. Thank you ULES PTO! And thank you to those who support PTO fundraisers!

We have to stop and thank all of the families who came to our Open House. The event was a huge success and may have been our most attended event in years.💜

Parents,
Please bring your students and their bookbags to open house! We need to pack their bags with school supplies.

Dear Parents and Staff,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you of a change in plans for our upcoming Field Day events due to inclement weather. Unfortunately, the weather forecast predicts conditions that are not suitable for outdoor activities, and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our students is our top priority. Therefore, we have made the decision to reschedule Field Day for our 4th grade from Monday, May 13th and Tuesday, May 14th to Wednesday, May 15th and Thursday, May 16th. The following teams will have field day on Wednesday, May 15th from 9-11: Treadway, Chitwood, Channin, Pogue, Montano and Horn. The following teams will have field day on Thursday, May 16th from 9-11: Holloway, English, Broom, Whatley, Gravitt and Smith. We understand that this change may cause inconvenience, but we believe it is in the best interest of everyone involved. Please stay tuned for further updates and details regarding the rescheduled Field Day. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to Upson-Lee Elementary School. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.

The Thomaston-Upson School System will be closely monitoring the weather throughout the school day. Current reports do not predict severe weather during school dismissal times this afternoon. Please review our district protocol for student dismissals during a tornado watch or warning:
1. Students may be checked out or picked up at school during a Tornado Watch.
2. Students may NOT be checked out or picked up at school during a Tornado Warning.
3. If a Tornado Warning occurs during release time on a school day, students will be held at school until it is deemed safe by the National Weather Service or the Georgia Emergency Management Association.
This protocol is in effect to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and parents/guardians/others who may be picking up students at the end of the school day. This information is also available on the T-U School System's Severe Weather Guide webpage at: https://www.upson.k12.ga.us/page/severe-weather-guide

Upson-Lee Elementary School will be offering a STEM summer camp for current 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. There are a limited number of openings. Please feel free to contact Mrs. Fouts for a camp application.

Dear Parents and Staff,
I am reaching out to inform you about a change in plans regarding our upcoming 3rd grade field trip due to inclement weather conditions.
After careful consideration and monitoring of the weather forecast, we have decided to reschedule the field trip originally planned for Thursday, May 9th to Thursday, May 16th. This decision was made with the safety and well-being of our students in mind, as we want to ensure that they have the best possible experience on the trip.
We understand that this change may cause inconvenience, particularly for those who have made arrangements for the previous date. Please know that we do not take this decision lightly, and we are committed to making the rescheduled field trip as smooth and enjoyable as possible for everyone involved.
