Class of 2020 Valedictorian Colby McRae and current senior at The United States Air Force Academy recently visited our NJROTC classes and spoke about what life is like being at a service academy and balancing college life with military service. Colby shared with students the admission process and how a service academy appointment differs from most military enlistments. While at The USAFA Colby has been a member of the USAFA cyber competition team. Colby considers a 6 week internship at the Air Force's software company in San Antonio, Texas the highlight of his time at USAFA. Colby is a computer science major. After graduation Colby will be commissioned as a 2nd Lt and will be stationed in Mississippi for additional cyber training

Mrs. Norris took her classes back to the Roaring 20s! In this classroom activity, AP US History students researched major social issues of the 1920s, such as prohibition, women's suffrage, immigration, new innovations, and jazz music. They presented their findings to peers while dressed in period clothes and listening to music from the era. This immersive approach allows students to experience the historical context firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of social issues, cultural expressions, and historical events.

You can improve literacy in any class! Ms. Matesja Daniel, a special education math teacher, is helping her students with the writing process. She purchased a book publishing kit to use with her math class. The students are writing short narratives about real-life examples of exponential growth and decay which students learned about in unit 2. Once they are finished with their final draft, Ms. Daniel will send the drafts to the publishing company to become actual books! Congrats to our future published authors, and thank you Ms. Daniel for this great literacy activity.

Mrs. Chandler's Introduction to Graphic Design class is currently working on a Color self portrait project. Mrs. Chandler says this is one of the assignments she looks most forward to each year. Students go over the emotional impact of color in design, color harmonies, and value. They demonstrate their knowledge while simultaneously learning the basics of Adobe Illustrator. Make sure to click the comments on the Facebook page to see two short videos of all of the projects completed so far!

Hello! The Thomaston-Upson School System is required to administer stakeholder surveys as a part of an annual comprehensive needs assessment. These surveys gather perception data regarding many facets of the school district, identify strengths and weaknesses, determine the professional learning needs of staff, and set goals for our FY25 Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs). The surveys are administered through Cognia, an accreditation, professional learning, and assessment organization that supports districts through customized improvement services. All survey responses are completely anonymous. There are 2 surveys available - 1 for parents & guardians and 1 for community members. Thank you in advance for assisting TU Schools in this process!
