ULPS students smiling and posing with their stuffed monsters

Over the past few weeks, the high school art students and Mrs. Mercer’s kindergarten class partnered together for an art project. The kindergarten students crafted a design for a delightful "monster," and a talented high school sculpture student brought it to life as a soft sculpture (a cuddly stuffed animal). This creative endeavor was inspired by the work of contemporary artist Dave de Vries, known for transforming children's drawings into lifelike paintings.

Throughout the process, the high school students acquired new skills, mastering the art of the running stitch, button sewing, and embellishing it with decorative elements such as hair and facial features.

Today marked the culmination of this collaborative effort as kindergartners were joyfully presented the finished masterpiece for them to cherish and enjoy!
