Second grade spent several weeks working on their "All About Me" Google slide presentation in computer CAMP. Students used abcya.com to create their own birthday cake, ice cream, pizza, house, car, bookbag and silly face. They learned how to insert these images into their slide, how to change the background and font, and how to create slide transitions and object animations. These are screenshots of some of the projects. We are so proud of their work!

The first teacher coins were spent! This year we started a new and exciting activity for our teachers. Just as our students have the chance to earn Royal Coins for exhibiting behaviors that are above and beyond so will our teachers! A menu of fun items was created for teachers. Mrs. Bartlett and Mrs. B. Barrow used their coins to have a pizza party for their class! Everyone enjoyed their sweet treat!

We had a little fun today at ULPS! Today was "Undercover Spirit Day". All faculty and staff members came to school wearing all black. We had a few students ask questions and were a bit confused! It was fun! Thank you ULPS for making this happen during this fun-filled week before Thanksgiving Break! We have a great staff at ULPS! Another "Undercover Spirit Day" soon to come and who will notice?

This Veterans Day, our Physical Education department has done a fantastic job incorporating meaningful activities that honor our veterans while also promoting fitness and teamwork among students. Their lesson included the significance of our flag and the values it represents. The various stations were designed not only to provide a fun and challenging workout but also to instill an understanding of this lesson. Our PE coaches created 6 different stations which consisted of the following: 1. The Army Crawl, where students simulate basic training by crawling low to the ground, learning to navigate under the “Critical Zone.” 2. The Quick Steps/Basic Training station, students enhance their agility and coordination by running through ladders and agility hoops, mimicking the drills used in military training. 3. The Ride The Jeep station has students utilizing scooters to navigate a circular or oval-shaped track, pretending they are in a military vehicle, while adhering to safety guidelines by keeping their hands inside the scooter handles. 4. The Take Flight station, students elevate pool noodles above their heads and run around cones, turning their “propellers” to improve balance and coordination. 5. The Parachute Play station emphasizes teamwork, as students work together to keep a parachute filled with air, fostering communication and collaboration akin to military camaraderie. 6. An Obstacle Course that challenges students to complete various physical tasks, mirroring the rigorous training military personnel undergo. Through these stations, students not only enhance their physical abilities but also deepen their understanding and appreciation of the sacrifices made by our veterans, creating a meaningful connection between fitness and respect for service.

We are inviting our students to participate in our staff dress up days after Thanksgiving. Please do not feel like you have to purchase things to participate. Many of the days are simply wearing different colors. If you don't have something for your child to wear that matches the theme, substitute a festive tshirt.
